Installation
- Flexxifinger’s service guidance is NOT to install the set screw (and therefore this jam nut): removing the set screws allows the lifter to seesaw on the tip of the guard, resulting in fewer bent and broken fingers
- Never install a bolt or set screw in the hole at the top of the lifter rail to create a snug fit on the guard — the lifter must remain free to move and to free-float about 1/4 in. (6 mm) to 1/2 in. (13 mm) up, down and side-to-side

Tips & tricks
- Exceptions where a set screw must be used to increase contact between the guard and the lifter when the guard length is particularly short: John Deere HydraFlex 635, Caterpillar headers, Lexion headers, Claas headers, and other select headers and/or knife systems — this jam nut locks the set screw in those cases
